Teacher Training: Foundations Workshop
Our Teacher Training: Foundations Workshop is the first step on your journey to becoming an instructor at Fitness on High.
The course runs from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, April 26th giving us time to learn the fundamentals for breathwork, alignment, cueing, planning a class, and more!
You will learn the basics that can be applied to any yoga or mat pilates class. Once you have gone through our foundations course, you will plan your class sequence and get some practice at the studio while receiving individual coaching from our instructors.
What to bring?
Please bring your mat, water bottle, a journal, and pen. Snacks are optional.
What to expect?
You will take a mat pilates class and learn the foundations for teaching. You will participate in this class to identify our model for integration, alignment, cueing, and more!
You will meet with our owner and head of marketing to set our intentions at the beginning of the day - to learn about the Fitness on High method, your motivations for teaching at our studio, and then we will spend the rest of the day trying to identify your particular strengths as a teacher as you learn the foundations for transforming lives as a fitness instructor.
You will then start to plan your own class and we will give you a chance to practice. For the latter half of our training day, we will have you start to apply all that you have learned by practicing your cueing with other teachers in training.
When will I be ready to teach?
This is a foundation course and does not guarantee that you will be hired to teach at the studio (until you are fully ready), however, this is the place that your audition begins. Some participants may be ready to teach at the studio right away, while others may need to take advanced courses to continue to refine their teaching skills in order to maximize the client experience.
As we get to know your strengths, you will be guided and coached through the areas that you need to approve upon. We want to give you ample opportunity to grow in our studio space, and help you gain the experience you need to be able to transform people's lives through the power of fitness.
At the end of this workshop, you will have a class sequence that you can practice with your friends at the studio and with other instructors. We ask that you take at least 10 classes to identify the various teaching styles, and audition with the owner and/or other experienced instructors. You will then be able to teach at the studio to gain experience and hone your skills as an instructor.
Cost?
The cost is $320 to ensure commitment. If hired at our studio, $120 of this will be applied to cover the cost of your liability insurance for one year, which is a requirement for you to teach at our studio as a 1099 contract employee. If you do not teach for us, you will be refunded this amount.
